Day 10 (8th Feb 2013)

These stones were just in this town and in the middle of nowhere,....
Day 10 - 8th Feb 2013
Started at 6am it was very foggy, we had found out last night that the road to Da Lat was not very steep but consisted of ups and downs. it was at almost the same altitude as the pass we has crossed the previous day.
Reached the outskirts of Da lat, the road was lovely. Around the town there were literally 100's of poly houses growing flowers of all imaginable varieties from roses to tulips and probably everything in between. We stopped at a local joint and it was rush hour:-)  we had to wait for sometime before a couple of the locals made place for us at their table. They were drinking beer and asked us if we want to share. Breakfast was noodle soup, eggs and veggies and salad. Finally we decided to have beer with our breakfast:-)  i guess this was a first for all of us. The locals enjoyed it and had a hearty laugh as we took so long to decide. Beer here is just like water....
Entered Da Lat, went around the lake and searched for V-cafe, it was recommended by our American friend from Hoi Ann. It turned to be a typical european coffee house snd quite expensive. we loved the carrot cake though and they had free wifi:-)
Kedar went around and found a guest house which was very reasonable at 10USD. We first washed our clothes and hung them up to dry. They had said free wifi but we could not get it to work. We had bought a bottle of red wine at Nha Trang and decided to have it now as Da lat is said to have a heavy french influence.
we headed to the city center, it was very crowded and there were stalls mostly selling flowers. It was a lovely sight. Had Bun-mi at a stall in the market and then decided to try a sweet dish which looked like falooda, found that looks could be deceiving, it was not sweet at all :-)
Went for a long walk in the city. had spotted a Tiger beer draught spot, turned out to be a cafe without food (many cafes here serve only coffee n beer, no food). At one joint saw steaming liquids, as all had sore throats decided to have, soya bean milk, ground nut milk and one more juice, all were tasteless, had to add suger :-l.
On way back to room had roasted sweet potato. The lady tricked us, said 5k initially and took 10. Finished the balance wine and went for dinner at 8.30 as most of the joints were closing/ washing for New Year Eve. Then walked back to our guest house. We decided to retire early as to start early the next day and make up some more distance as we had cycled just 30 kms today.
